The Armenian poet, essayist Sona Van (Sona Ter-Hovhannisyan) was born in Yerevan. Since 1978, she has been living in California. She obtained her degree in clinical psychology and psychoanalysis from the American University. She is a knowledgeable medical practitioner and psychoanalyst. Starting in 2006, in Yerevan, she has been the editor-in-chief of the literary-artistic and socio-cultural periodical "Nartsis." Additionally, since 2013, she has served as the chief editor. Sona Van is the author of seven volumes of creative works, translated into more than twenty languages, including independent books.

During the same period, she gained recognition for her poetic collection "Unstoppable Shadows of Shalerazad," which was awarded by the State Order of Literature "For Liberty" and became the 7th book of the Freedom of Speech competition for artistic creation. Translated into English, French, Russian, German, Ukrainian, Georgian, Persian, Turkish, Spanish, Arabic, and other languages, Sona Van's works have received attention internationally.

In the past years, during her visit to Armenia in November, the book "For the Liberty of Anatolia" was honored with four awards: from the RA Ministry of Culture, the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Committee, the 5th Pan-Armenian Literary Award, and the Hayak National Medal in Tbilisi, which she shared with other Armenian and Vratsa literary figures.

In 2013, Sona Van was awarded the "Movses Khorenatsi" medal for her contribution to the preservation of the Armenian cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia.

Sona Van's periodical "Nartsis" and her extensive contribution to literary and artistic activities have been widely recognized. In 2013, she was awarded the "Movses Khorenatsi" medal in the field of culture by the Armenian General Benevolent Union of California.

Sona Van, through her activities in public health, was awarded the "Movses Khorenatsi" medal by the Armenian Ministry of Health in California. She was also honored with the "Golden Needle of Cine in Literature-2013" award, established by the Palace of the Arts in California. Additionally, she received honorary medals and diplomas from the San Francisco Spiritual and Cultural Center, as well as several other awards and honors from Armenian and American literary and artistic organizations.
